Missing missed calls

Telephones used to be pretty localised to where they are installed and ring so loudly that it's impossible to miss. Normally, an unanswered call is a pretty clear message to the caller that you're unavailable, and they would know to try again later.

Many of us have smartphones and smart devices that we bring with us everywhere now, but somehow it has gotten easier to miss calls; in fact, it's apparently even possible for some to regularly miss missed calls.

At that point it begs the question of whether or not one just simply doesn't want to engage: it makes everyone's life so much easier (even if the caller is a spammer or scammer!) to make it clear that you don't want to engage from the get go.
