On writing daily

I'm still often struggling even after writing daily for a couple of months. Some days I feel especially uninspired, and others it feels like every idea I have deserves a lot more time than I can allocate. Below are some questions that I still ask myself regularly about writing daily.

Is it "useful"?

I think so. It's definitely helped me to frame issues better and be more empathetic. The commitment to ship something out to the world daily constantly reminds me that I should strive to make the best use of the allocated time by shipping something good (my posts are currently still not very good in my opinion — probably a skill issue).

Wouldn't my time be better spent on digging into a technical problem, which is what I enjoy doing the most, then write about them weekly, fortnightly, or monthly?

Possibly. I would like to reduce the average time it takes to produce a "regular" post to 30 minutes first and start writing longer-form posts that require more time to produce. Will reassess and readjust once I'm there. As mentioned above, having a few themes to work with probably also helps.

It is also possible that I put too much focus on writing as the medium to ship daily. The next rewrite of this blog intends to make this space a better canvas for me to explore shipping with other media. Or maybe some days I can just be comfortable with knowing that I shipped code for my project and just a screenie of those commits is already good enough.

Who cares?

Me. This is for myself.

Some posts are silly.

Yeah, they are. Who cares?

↑ For myself. Although it does get me thinking about content on the Internet now compared to "content" on the Internet many years ago. Maybe I'm just in the wrong crowd where everyone tries to put good packaging on their content regardless of the quality of their content.
