Selecting vanity metrics
"What kind of questions can we select to make the results of our employee engagement surveys look better?"
Questions like the above should raise an ocean of red flags to anyone. It's effectively asking:
- How do we lie to ourselves?
- How do we avoid accountability to those we should look after?
- How do we cheat stakeholders to give us confidence that we don't deserve?
Those asking such questions may think that they are just selecting vanity metrics.
To everyone else it looks like fraud.
